My Story

I have wanted to be a hairstylist since I was 12 years old. Several paths have lead me to owning my little, unique salon…Sheer Beauty. After high school, I decided to go to college…I mean why not!? College is fun! I liked the idea of being a teacher…so after getting my degree in Sociology, I went directly into beauty school. New path!

I graduated from college in 2001 from Southern Oregon University, Ashland OR and in 2003, I received my Cosmetology License from Lytles Redwood Empire Beauty College in Santa Rosa, CA. I applied to the top salons in San Francisco and got my first choice at Yosh…Gina Khan Salon on Maiden Lane. I specialized in hair cutting and developed my skills there for a year. I discovered I wanted to learn color and grow my business closer to home in Marin. In 2004 I rented my first chair at Sproos Hair Salon in San Anselmo, CA. I stayed there and loved it for 7 years until I had my second baby girl and wanted to be closer to home. I moved to L Paradis Salon in Novato and I knew it was meant to be. Then I had my third baby girl…and I needed to be home even more. New path!

I found my passion for educating was lingering and my awareness about the safety in our personal care products was growing. I am a mom and a women and my passion has grown into educating about pretty much everything I learn about “sheer beauty” and living an 80/20 lifestyle. I love my salon Sheer Beauty and I look forward to sharing with everyone!

Mission:

Sheer Beauty's mission is to create a space to feel good about yourself. I combine high end products with safety standards that brings more good than bad. We should never compromise our health in the name of beauty...but we aren't getting any younger 😉

It's Time for a Change

The personal care industry has not been regulated since 1938. The Golden Gate Bridge was built in 1937. I was with Beautycounter for 10 years…and that journey inspired me to take a better look at what I put in and on my body. Did you know that the number of ingredients banned in the US has gone from 11-30. Which is a start, but in the European Union, 1400 ingredients are banned. Room for improvement here for sure!

Sheer Beauty was founded on September 1, 2018 by me…Heather Pansini. I am an expert hairstylist who also happens to be passionate about educating on cleaner choices. Leading the change! I took inspiration from my experience and research in the beauty industry and envisioned Sheer Beauty as a high-performing hair salon with as little harmful ingredients as possible. There needs to be a balance…heavy on the safety side. Baby steps…

Sheer Beauty takes it a step further and brings hair care with similar missions to get safer products in the hands of everyone. At Sheer Beauty I carry professional level hair care with as little harmful ingredients. Innersense is my first choice but there are several options out there we can talk about.

It’s time for a change….we aren’t getting any younger! I am working towards a goal for myself, my daughters, my mom, my friends and family. Everyone means everyone. I want us to be able to pick up a product and not have to question if it will compromise our health…or beauty.

BAN INTENTIONALLY

The Never List™ is made up of approximately 1,800 harmful or questionable ingredients we prohibit from our product formulations, including the nearly 1,500 ingredients banned in the European Union.

SCREEN RIGOROUSLY

Using the best available sources, we screen every potential ingredient for information on specific hazards like cancer, developmental toxicity, hormone disruption, and infertility.

LEARN CONSTANTLY

There are major data gaps on most personal skin care ingredients, so I review emerging data regularly and apply it to the products I carry in the salon.

SOURCE RESPONSIBLY

I try to choose the best sustainable, organic, natural, sustainable, and synthetic ingredients that meet my standards. Most of the ingredients of my products are natural or plant-derived and B certified.

SHARE TRANSPARENTLY

Every formula ingredient, including known components of fragrances, flavors, and intentionally added preservatives, are listed on the product labels or on the Innersense website.
